> Phone got soaked! How to save?

All the functions were working. Only the screen itself was showing signs of failing. Now the display doesn't work at all.
I can repair it through the insurance but in the meantime, what can I do to save the main part of the phone from failing?

If it was today, take the battery out of the phone NOW and leave it somewhere to dry for a couple of days, take the phone apart if you feel confident.
Often after water ingress the phone will work for a short while then fail, and by then the damage will be irreversible
If you take out the battery (the battery's current speeds up the corrosion) and leave the phone to dry out thoroughly for a couple of days you may be lucky and the phone'll be OK

I've never taken a phone apart. I can only see four tiny screws on the back.

This the important thing you could do...
If you can managed to dismantle the phone apart by taking out the screws, do it. And by using a lighter fluid (it's the one used in Zippo) pour it on motherboard at least a small amount enough to cover all the entire unit except the screen. Don't worry on getting soaked or wet again by this kind of liquid. On this way, the lighter fluid's chemical will mixed on remaining water (or any liquid) on every parts of the mobile unit and it will dissipate until it dries out. On this kind of process, it will prevent corrosion inside your phone after several hours of drying when you put it all together, insert your battery back again and power up the phone, this should be back to normal again. I always do this on any mobile unit because I already tested and I found It 100% working.
For the screen part, check carefully if there's any water remaining and see to it if you can manage to wipe it out with any soft tissue.
BTW, you can also use the chemical spray cleaner used in computer parts and motherboards or the one they used to take out rusts especially on metals. (its's called WD40)

i had the same problem when my two-week old k610i got wet. at first, the lights blinked randomly. i kept turning it on and off until the screen totally went black. the keypads became unresponsive.
early in the morning i turned it on and it worked but the menus kept on popping up even if i did not touch any of the keypads. finally, i was told by the repairman that my mainboard was rusted and it had to be replaced, which, price unfortunately is equal to or more than the amount of the cellular phone itself.
now, the phone is still functioning only that the 4,7,8,9 keypads are unresponsive. the battery drains rapidly. the usb, charger and headphone port lost its function.
that how sad my story is.

i guess the only things that could be salvaged from a soaked phone are the plastic parts

Thanks for the help.
So far I'd taken out the battery, SIM and memory stick. I've left it all to dry but I won't switch it on for a while. The four small screws are very small, and also in a star-type format. I'd have to see if I have a screwdriver or tool for that size and shape.

Get air into the facsia by opening both sides of the phone up and leaving it in a warm place. That should help a lot.
