> Phone won't receive SMSs

My p1i suddenly today is refusing to receive any SMSs unless I turn it off and turn it on, in which case I suddenly receive every pending SMS.
After a few seconds, I can no longer receive SMSs again.
If I turn off and turn on again, the SMSs all come through at once and the problem starts again.
I can still receive calls and send SMSs at any time though.
Going to offline mode and then back to phone mode doesn't work.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

I'm having a similar problem, except I can only receive Texts from other ATT phones. I think it's am IMEI problem. I would say change out your sim card and then tell them to check your IMEI number. But most likey your fried your sim.

If the SIM was fried its most likely the phone wouldn't work, the p series generally tend to tread sim card problems as fatal errors that require a complete reboot to sort.
I have heard of this before

And i don't believe there was any useful answer to this. Myself, I have never had this issue, so it could be a handset problem. Otherwise if you haven't done so you should get the latest FW on your p1. That might solve the issue.

Thanks guys, but problem still not solved.
I doubt its the SIM card that has a problem since I can still make/receive calls and send messages. I just can't receive messages unless I restart the phone. Maybe the SIM card is overheating or shorting out, but that should mean I can't even make calls.
Plus I can still access contacts on my SIM.
As for firmware, I'm running the latest one on generic world 1. The phone was behaving itself till late last night. The problem has been going on since about this morning.
Perhaps its a weird network problem. If noone suggests a fix that works by tomorrow, I'll lodge a network complaint. Just dont feel like dealing with the pain-in-the-ass call centers right this late at night.
again, thanks for the suggestons but if anyone has anymore I'd be grateful

Solved.
It was a completely weird problem. My inbox wasn't full up at all (only 1300 messages) so it wasn't that which was causing the problem.
WHat was weird was that if I scrolled up from the first SMS, it would go to an SMS roughly 3/4ths of the way down my inbox and never to the first one ever received in the inbox.
So anyway I marked all and said delete and it only deleted all the messages till the 1st firmware update I did(done 2 till now).
Must have been a bad restore or something.

I have posted on here before about this, the problem (in my case anyway) was to clear the inbox, for some reason it did not like 1200 messages. (I actually made another directory and moved them there, so I still have a searchable copy on the phone) which also works.

but what is strange is that I've gone above 1500 on this same phone. Perhaps different firmware versions behave differently.
But I think I'm going to create folders for SMSs just in case.
Anyone got a suggestion for a good automatic SMS manager for UIQ3?
