I would say Core Player for video and LCG Jukebox for audio.
SmartMovie for video with subtitles (I've never tried SmartMovie though)

LCG Jukebox works very nicely. Only thing i don't like is the lack of playlist support and more sorting options (or am i blind). Also, the volume is like 1/2 of what i get from the built-in music player. It's too soft to be played through the loudspeaker using this program.
