This should make a lot of N95 users happy, Nokia realy haven't forgotten about them. With Demand Paging im sure 29mb of ram isn't bad at all!

Just update my firmware. Here are the observation:-

- Free RAM is 29Mb on boot. Boot time is MUCH faster.
- FIRST time Camera startup no different BUT the next time you use the cam, it is much faster at startup 1-2sec. Think the cam app stays RAM. In between shots time have also improved a lot.
- Gallery is much faster. Stutter is gone. Like cam, Gallery app stays in RAM so the next time you use it startup is much faster.
- Menu and phone generally faster. Starting app is noticeably snappier.
- You can now open web/music/gallery/camera together with no problems.
- Some new icons for folder.
- Include new Search on standby

I am very impressed with this update. Seems like Nokia do look after its customers. N95 is already out for nearly a year and yet we are given this new firmware which includes so much improvement (unlike SE which abandoned P990 users a few months after the p990 was released). I was thinking of upgrading to N95 8G but now I see no need to as this new firmware brings it to the N95 8G level of usability and performance.

I suggest to all existing N95 users to upgrade to this firmware. Some advice before upgrading.
- Backup/Sync your PIMS to Outlook.
- Create a phone memory backup to memory card.
- Keep your memory card in the phone as after the upgrade, the phone will scan for apps installed in memory card. This save you the need to reinstall these apps.
- Upgrade your phone. It is safe to restore this backup. I have NO problem at all. Note: PIM may not be restored (mine did not!!!). That's why the sync to Outlook is important otherwise you may lose your PIM data. Most of "commercial" apps installed to phone memory can be restored by the backup. Java apps cannot be restored.

Well lets be honest it is only the truth isn't it? and raising a point that even the great Ares mentions how come if Nokia can do this with an updated phone already out. Why can't SE ease the pain of there long suffering UIQ3 users instead of abandoning them all within a year?

This besides the fact SE currently has no announced or related devices that i want is why i no longer hold SE in high regard their customer support service and general attitude towards there users just sucks big time.

I also think it deserves mentioning this update as it virtually illuminates all the unresolved complaints about the original and makes buying one now at today's prices extremely good value don't you?

Marc
