Bookmark topic
Hi,
Just wondering whether to buy a K850i from O2, but need to know whether French language is supported.
Can somebody check whether French is available in:
[text message] -> options -> Writing options -> Writing language
Thanks !!

its not o2 that would determine what language the phone can support. Its the manufacturer of the phone that decides that.

I disagree.
I bought a K850i from T-Mobile, and it doesn't support French, but does support lots of Eastern European languages (plus English). I've been in touch with SE UK, SE France, and T-Mobile, and they all say that there's no way to add French to my phone -- so it's going to have to go back...
I know somebody with an Orange K850i, and French is supported. Now darrengf has shown that it's supported by O2.
If you look on the DaVinciTeam website, you can see that there are different _versions_ of the firmware, R1CA037 being the latest, but there are also different firmware _builds_ for each of the phone providers:
http://www1.davinciteam.com/K850/index.html
K850i R1CA037 CID52 K850 1201-9791 O2 UK/BLUE
K850i R1CA037 CID52 K850 1204-6333 VIRGIN MOBILE UK/ BLUE
The phone provider specific firmware builds obviously have all their logos, etc, but must also have the language dictionaries...
Unless you know different...
In which case, please educate me...

Mr Miyagi is right. It's the manufacturer who decides what languages that are on the phone, not the operator.

I took the photos with a Sony w5
But the shots were only basic vga for for me to post,
But the camera does take fantastic shots tho. Its amazing (I like a camera that you switch on, point and shoot and for me this is it. Simple and it takes 300-400 shots on a 2 aa batteries, which is even better for me
If you want any more, I would gladly take some more of the menus on the phone.

Regarding the Languages.
Languages are dependent on country, network, SE and branding.
O2 use Generic Western Europe, so will get generic western europe languages
K850i R1CA037 CID52 K850 1201-9791 O2 UK/BLUE WESTERN-EUROPE
However other networks specify what they want in the phone which includes menus, languages functions and lots more.
Here are the following listing for the rest of the uk networks
K850i R1CA029 CID52 K850 1201-9789 VODAFONE UK/ BLUE VFE-LIVE-A
K850i R1CA029 CID52 K850 1201-9790 3 UK/BLUE HUTCH-WORLD
K850i R1CA029 CID52 K850 1201-9792 ORANGE UNITED KINGDOM/ BLUE ORANGE-SIGN
K850i R1CA029 CID52 K850 1201-9793 T-MOBILE UK/ BLUE T-MOB-INT
K850i R1CA037 CID52 K850 1204-6333 VIRGIN MOBILE UK/ BLUE WESTERN-EUROPE
If you want any other networks for the K850i let me know.
