hello
i just got today my p1 & i will be pleased if any of you older users could give me some advise or answers
i know i should do as well a search in the forum but my free time time before i purcase it i did all my posible free time reading about it
how ever after having the phone in my hands is little diferent than the k 800 i used to have
my small review is that p1 is a great tool & the touch screen is cool
how ever i find the k 800 easy for using menu straight forward & the joystick easy peasy for use together with left & right softbuttons for exit or select
alarm is little disapoint (coming from k800 which got recourent alalrm /can choice spesific days,while the p1 is daily weekly or once)but by time will go over it
after 1 day having the p1 i start like it & i guess after a week using it i would NOT want to go back as p1 has got some more advange option from the k 800 & the touch screen seems only amount of time to love it
but however is seems is got some negative points as well & here i m coming to you asking a favour for advise
so here my main important question
1
in k800 after compose a text in the phone memory allready got the latest 10 last text numbers stored that has been send so is so easy with the joystick to scroll & click it for send in 2- 3 sec
with the p1 i see first need add the phone number then the text
but in the first step when trying to add number instead type in is any other shortcut?
(appart click add number,clcik contacks, scroll down,click name is any shortcut or a quick folder that can add to be faster & more easy?)

coz i m in london on my way out.going shops,even on streets,pubs etc,i discover that there are too many unsecure wireless internet
how can i browse with out goint to gprs so will not charge me gprs?
just exit & go to browser like normal wap?

how can i close/switch off the gprs option?
i did find the 3g to close but not the gprs
maybe is just prefix with o2?

while trying to connect via wirless to this unsecure connections i notice that the phone did not freeze but it freeze the search option,scan (even wan was wifi menu did not appear on the dispay scan & will not exit either)
i did read in this forum that few members had freeze problems with browser
is that the same problem? so ok i understand few bugs are, so cool
or my phone faulty?coz i was not on browser but on wlan wifi mode
allthrought a reboot slove it so after ok

i saw around that a great member discovered how to unbrand the firmware
my question is will this unlock the p1 as well to any network as it seems locked to O2?

when i opened first time the phone i see the wizard asking what language i like to use so i choice english uk but i saw greek in it
however i did choise uk but later when i gone to menu i see only option was english & a message saying in you need more langauge go to sonyericsson.com/support
what happent to greek langauge?
thanks in advance any kind member offering help from his/her expirience

1) as you use contacts and numbers they are stored in a list, either click to: or click the contacts soft button, then just click the one you want. I do all this with my thumb.
2) you need to remove all o2 gprs/3g accounts from the internet group. control panel -> connections -> internet accounts -> groups tab -> select internet ->edit
you can then remove the gprs accounts. Myself i just move them to the bottom of the list, I leave wlan enabled so that any unsecured wlans will be opened BEFORE the gprs ones. Please be aware that just because a scan lists a open wlan it doesn't mean you can connect to it, if its a wifi g network you can see it but not connect.
3) gprs only connects as a internet connection is needed, so if you remove the gprs accounts from the internet group then it will never connect.
4) check your firmware version - standby screen -> more -> status -> organiser - if you have r6d23 then you should run the update service, i believe that r6e30 is available for o2 now. This should solve most of you wlan issues
5) don't know, possibly. Ask on that thread. Please be aware that changing your firmware to a unbranded version will invalidate your warranty.
6) try control panel -> other -> setup wizard. alternative check the SE downloads area for language packs.

i find it very nice phone & not care for joy stick anymore
how ever i find solution to turn off gprs & icon appear only when i browse with out delete the 02 account
menu>control panel>connections>internet account>02 postpay gprs>more>options>prefered mode>cs only
but my question is as you are more expirience is that it seems still charge me even if i find any unsecure connection? that is why need delete o2 account?
