I have a 3G (three) contract and a locked w810i. If I get the w810i unlocked, will I be able to use my 3g sim card in it to send messages and make phone calls? I'm not bothered about the 3g video stuff.

dont think so as the w810 is not a 3g phone but edge.

I realise I won't get the 3G features, just not sure if I can still use calls and text

3 uk will send you a text to turn on 3g. if you still dont turn 3g on, 3 will cut you off.

3 do that because it costs them to use a 2g network (like tmobile or orange) as they dont have their own 2g network.

i used 6230i with 3 card, but it worked fine, when i was on a1 ( vodafone) cos in many places in austria 3 roems on a1 and a1 offers edge, so i was able to use a 3g card in a non umts fone, was really funny.

from where i am, the W810i can accommodate a 3G-enabled SIM card but would not be able to utilize the said 3G features of the SIM.

SMS as well as calls are, of course, possible
