Hi there. Just got a w950i moving from a nokia n80. great phone but wors thing is the standby screen.

i can't find a way to hide certain things. I can hide, today (which gets rid of "set up email" "calender" and "tasks", inbox, and recently missed calls (and visualiation which i don't evn know what it is).

but i can't get rid of the first link to the walkman. i don't need it as there's a dedicated walkman buton and a play button.

how can i edit it further to remove the walkman link and if possible the "setup email" link (without removing today?)

Hi,

Of course you can. While in the standby screen tap more -> settings. You will find the settings responsible for what is displayed in the upper part of the screen, you can remove email, callendar or something else. To replace the walkman icon on the standby screen, highlight it (by choosing the icon with the scroll wheel), then choose MORE -> Replace, and you can replace it with something else.

the only extra settings here are if they are expanded or collapsed. so i still can't remove the set up email link (shown between today and calendar).

and when i say walkman link, I'm not talking about the icon on the bottom of the screen. it says walkman in writing, just below "vodafone" and above today. it's the first link on the standby screen. highlighting it doesn't give the option of replacing it in the "more" menu.

these two items are taking up two whole lines of my standby screen and it;s really annoying me. if anyone can help further i'd appreciate it.

Ok, it seems I didn't understand you correctly . I used to have W950, but currently I own P1i so the settings may differ slightly.
I don't know if it is possible to remove the walkman link below the operator logo, probably not :-|
As to 'setup email', what I think you can do is to set up an email account (doesn't have to be something real, I think you can use some dummy settings). When the email account is set up, its name appears in the line where 'setup email' was displayed previously and then you should have the option to either display it or not in the 'settings' menu.

thanks! the e-mail thing worked. I just put "email" as the name and saved it, then it came up in the show/hide menu.

It seems that sony ericson love wasting space. I've now noticed that even the "Today" line is completley unnecessary.


Can linkboy show things like today's calendar?
