HI there. just switched to a w950i from a Nokia N80. In the N80, all applications had an exit function, which actually closed the program (it wasn't in task manager).

in the sony ericson, all i can find is the dedicated return button, and the retun button on the top right (which apparently does the same thing). but then the program is still in the task manager. so after a bit of use the phone has loads open.

how do you exit programs properly? i must be missing something here.

You can end them in the Task Manager.

It's a bit of a pain in UIQ 3.

You can try this app, Ballroom

which gives you the option, on tapping the top left icon, to close and exit the task.

i think it's ridiculous htat i need to go to task manager everytime i want to close something. mainly becuase i can't get to the top corner buttons with my thumb so have to get the pen out.

is there a way to make those buttons bigger? i haven;t found how to get Gdesk menus to show all the time (i.e. so i can close it without going to the standby screen).

I also think i would be a good idea to increase the size of the exit button.

It it possible?

should be as possible as increasing hte size of the task manager button.

for the moment, i've downloaed swiss manager pro which claims it frees up memory on idle (so it will automatically close any applications i've left runnning).

some programs have an option in their menu to exit and close the application. but there are also others that can only be closed through the task manager. i must admit it's not the most user-friendly solution.

..personally, I think it's a pretty elegant solution. Most programs that use large chunks of memory, or need exclusive priority for a while, like games - have an exit- button. The rest you don't really need to close, and you'll save battery and time if you leave the programs open. Without things slowing down, and so on (generally, anyway).

..Not like it is on s60 or WM, but.. in my opinion, that's not really a bad thing.
