Hi All, I hope maybe one of you can point me in the right direction with JAVA programming for mobile phones. Basically, although I used to programme years ago (cobol, VB etc etc) my programming skills need a bit of updating and so I want to start learning Java Dev for Mobiles particulary.
I've been looking up on the SE Java Dev, Sun Microsystems sites etc etc for a good place to start and there's that much that I just need a little pointer to start me off. If anyone could tell me of which is the best apps, books to use Java for mobiles wise, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

1) You need to know either java or c++ somewhat decently. If you know c++ a few days learning the differenced between java and c++ is necessary. If you don't know either start with java.
'Java: the complete reference' is a good book.
2) Get yourself a book on j2me.

This one isn't good at all. But its a start. I bought myself Beginning J2me by Li and Knudsen - its good.
3) Start using the javadocs on sun's and SE's developer websites. These are better than the books once you have mastered the basics.
4) Enjoy!

I second that...
Beginning J2ME: From Novice to Professional by Jonathan Knudsen and Sing Li is a really good start to get in to J2ME
You find it on Amazon.
