Well I've just acquired a HP HW6965 that works perfectly except the onboard loudspeaker is dud. (No sound - therefore no ringtone) But since I don't use it for calls it's not a problem. It cost me the grand total of $0
Onboard wifi, GPS, bluetooth, IR. Has EDGE, but no use here in Australia. No 3G unfortunantely. But I can use my K800 via bluetooth when I need better than the onboard gsm gprs.
The GPS is fun, and actually useful at the moment, as my car speedo is broken, and the HP running GPSAuto works well as a replacement Speedo and Trip Meter. I've got it in cigar lighter powered mounting bracket, since the GPS sucks battery bad.
It has the 240X240 screen, which is bright and clear but USELESS for Multimedia with a square aspect ratio. A shame because it has 65K colour and TFT. Playing a movie in full screen (with the edges cropped) is good viewing, but you lose too much of the picture. Still it does play audio adequately (through headphones - onboard loudspeaker is dud, as mentioned before), though I had to buy memory for it since I don't have any other MiniSD devices.
The physical keyboard, I must admit works very well, key spacing is not cramped at all, even for my stubby fingers. The virtual keyboard is the same as all WM devices - I still like the letter recogniser for long stretches of writing - but the real Keyboard is great for other times.
Memory management on WM5 is better than my previous WM 2003 devices. The HP has 128 ROM, 64 RAM and a 416MHz processor.
WIFI is b only but I haven't found an access point I couldn't connect to as yet. G only access points are very rare. Most security options are available, the only option not supported is WPA-PSK AES (WPA-PSK TKIP, WPA and WEP are all supported).
The 1.3MP Camera is utter crap, no other words to describe it. The vga unit on the XDA Mini is better. Video is appalling and only 176x144.
Battery is excellent if not used much, but wifi sucks battery, and GPS VACUUMS battery

So really for GPS use external power supply is imperative for serious use, and if you use wifi a lot it's usually possible to get through the day, but a car charge through the day can be advisable at times.
Overall I'm very happy with it, only thing missing is 3G.

HUH!
I thought there was a reason you've been very quite with NOT posting in the forever battles of the SE phones vs the competition. I'm surprised that you got a WM 5 smartphone.
Good for you for exploring other things on the horizon. Sure its $0 but its STILL worth something. Maybe HP will fix the on-board sound card or speaker?
Cheers mate.

no not fixable. But I just use a headset if I need sound functions.
Well it's actually work that's taken me away from posting, that and the feeling that if people want to get all evangelistic about how bad SE are lately then they can do it amongst themselves. I know SE have some issues, but I still think they produce pretty fine phones amd I'm sick of having to justify that all the time, or else be sneered at for daring to excuse SE like some demented "fanboy"
But as far as WM goes, I've been dabling in PPC for a while now. I've always had an interest in the WinCE platform, right from the start. And since they first put a phone in a PPC I wanted a PPC phone! The first one I saw on the shelves in Brisbane was the Motorola MPX200. I didn't get a PPC phone myself for a while though. My first was an XDAii, followed by an XDA Mini. The HP is better than both in build quality, but things like the square screen are a disappointment.

Hi max_wedge
I haven't had an Ipaq or that type of device besides 1 week with TyTN for a long time now, but if it works with headphones would a Bluetooth headset not work also and maybe your answer.

Well a standard headset works fine, but I admit I've thought of getting an A2DP headset, since the device is A2DP capable. I could also use it with the K800.
I also use the phone as a skype handset while on wifi (either at home or at a public wifi hotspot).

The HP is cool but it's a wide load

Some of the blackberry's out now are pretty slick looking. Do you know of a good blackberry camera phone, TS, with qwerty?
