> O2 K850i Service Icons
Bookmark topic
Hi,
I got a new O2 3G sim card a couple of days ago and there is a new service icon that appears in my k850, it's a blue square with "H" inside it, it appears in sme places while in other places a similar square with "3G" inside it appears instead.
Does it stand for hdspa? what does it mean when it comes on instead of "3G" (my understanding is that hdspa is part of 3G).
Is there a reference for all these service icons? I am suprised they are not mentioned in the user guide that came with the phone, are they operator specific?
Cheers

Hi,
Which manual are you talking about, the box only came with a user guide, which didn't explain service icons, the same one I managed to find in pdf format on SE's website
http://www.sonyericsson.com/c[....]29087/K850i__UG_R1a_EN_24.pdf. If you have a link to a full manual I would really appreciate it.
Cheers

On the k850i:
By the signal bars there will be either a tiny letter G, E or nothing. The G means "GPRS" - quite slow. The E Means EDGE - faster GPRS, but not as fast as 3G.
If you see a seperate, bluey 3G icon, it means your phone's found a 3G signal. H means HSPDA, which is far faster than 3G.

O2 at present are rolling out HSDPA services in some parts of the country.
I have only got H on one occasion and that was at Gatwick
