i go out drinking a lot and often find it hard to use my sony ericsson P1 for calls and texts after a heavy nights drinking.what would be best for me?

There's always the £9 Sagem MY-150x you could take out with you! Doesn't matter too much if something untoward happens to it then as it's cheap to replace!
Though the keys might be a tiny bit small for drunken texting

Not really. At least they won't ply you with more drink and then nick it. And it doesn't matter if you get too p****d and leave it somewhere.
