Guys!

I am facing this weired problem with my P1i Job Dial. When I am movin the jog dial in DOWN direction it moves down and then suddenly moves up. I mean not mechanically but on display. For example I am in Contacts and I am scrolling down from F-G-H-I then it will go like F - G - H - I - J - K - J - I - H - I - J -I and something like this. It goes in no particular manner but moves weiredly. It does the same with the volume when I am on call. I try to increase teh volume and then suddenly I can hear anything and realise the volume has scrolled back ti minimum. Its really annoying. Is it the hardware issue or FM?

Please help

Unfortunately, it's a technology issue. The scroll wheel of the P1i is much like the scroll wheel on a mouse...and actually even some mice themselves...if you jerk it in one direction too fast, it will track the opposite way.

The problem with scroll wheel technology, is that it's meant to be used at a particular pace (this is the most annoying thing for me) ... if you scroll too fast, it reads it as the reverse direction (almost all low-end mice do this as well)

I'm presuming that this is due to the optical tracking used in mice today... so I can only assume that the P-series (I can't remember if I had the same problem with my P800... but I did with my P910i) uses optical tracking as well.

This was never a problem with mechanical mice... but, you had the problem of dirt.

I will be taking the the phone to a local guy. He happens to be a friend of mine and he said it just need some cleaning and it will be fine. I will be taking it to him today or tomorrow because he will clean it right in front of me and hand over the phone to me in 30mins unlike the SE serive center who would take atleast 10 days for the same work. And moreover I will get to see the phone open!
