> 10 Questions to UIQ - have your say!
Bookmark topic
My friend Asri has just posted this at the UIQ Blog:
In finding new ways to make this blog as interesting as possible, we always think about new stuff which we hope will become our unique tradition. You wont find that information anywhere else. Here it is…
I will submit 10 questions to “someone” inside UIQ Technology. Who? You will find it later when the time comes to reveal the information What I need from you right now is to submit questions to me as many as possible and the selected questions will be sent to the “UIQ Person” and he will answer them “DIRECTLY” in his blog. How’s that?
Please reply to this post with your questions or email me : asri AT uiqblog DOT com . You can ask about anything related to UIQ. I dont promise anything but this sounds fun and I think you guys will feel the rush too
Now start thinking of the questions will ya!

So people, lets participate, and post the questions on his blog

Why is documentation for 3rd party developers so limited?
Can we expect major changes in the firmware for the P1i lifecycle?
Can we expect demand paging?
Hope its this kind of questions you are looking for

i would also ask them the folowing:
when will we have flash support, and in what devices...only new???
animated walpapers...when?
printing drivers...they are supposed to be added soon...when?
opera mobile 9...will older devices be able to access it, at least via download (probably not free, like opera 8.65 for s60)
should not UIQ launch some apps itself has tech demos, and also to feel users needs that arenīt been fullfilled by developers?
why they are doing such a bad job in terms of public relations, compared with competition

Can we have a 'close' button for applications as standard instead of leaving it up to the developer or having to use task manager or third party apps?

I think that's not up to the operating system, but to developers of each program!

That's what cyco was complaining about, the lack of a standard way of quickly closing an app - all we have is the back softkey, if anything, on the screen which just puts the app in the background...

My question would be: why not let the user decide what functions to allow an app to have, instead of imposing a set of very stallinist security regiemes on developers (symbian signed?)??? This would do nothing but popularise the system, and encourage development, I mean why not simply have a set of warning dialogues the first time a program tries to access one of these 'restricted' functions (autostart/macro recording etc)?
JUST TELL US, WE'LL UNDERSTAND!!!!!!
I should think that most people who own uiq devices have the intelligence to make an informed decision, after all the world let's us have bank accounts, drive cars, make babies, and everything! Am I the only person that feels patronised?
OK, rant over...

..It's kind of like a solution to the battery problem. Avoid loading programs over and over. (Ohnoes, I like stalinism). But there's nothing stopping anyone making a program from just adding an exit- option at the end of the menu- items.
