> S500i/W580i broken keypads, current status?
Bookmark topic
hi all
i know there are topics for this already. But just wanted to know whats going on with them this present day. Are the keypads cracking still? Or have

fixed them and using different materials?
My mate got one in Thailand (grey w580) a good couple months back, and his phone hasnt cracked. A few weeks before he got his, my brother and other mate got one, both cracked. Maybe the materials were changed in those few weeks

the keypad materials on the non-craked w580 feels different to the broken ones....
can any one shed any light on this issue?
cheers

Purchased grey 580. Three days back. No prob with the keypad yet. Typing is tough though, and putting a space is hell.
BUT the phone back cover is a tiny bit loose on the top right side and makes ticking sounds when i type. The down on the joypad breaks like a door hinge without oil when semi pressed. And the cancel and back keys are shoddy. Plus the slider doesn't maintain its original punch and becomes a bit limp after a few days, especially when closing. Hafta tighten sometimes myself! The rest is fine.

As far as I know it was only an initial batch of S500is/W580is that were affected this way, and

amended their production methods for subsequent handsets, so if you have one with a cracked keypad, you must have an early model!

Well I got customers who have had their phones at service centre 2-3 times and the buttons are still cracking...
