Ill start off by saying that I bought my phone off ebay. That was a stupid thing to do I admit coz you basically get no warranty. But id had so much faith in Sony-Ericsson that it didn’t bother me.

I had only had my phone for a week until I started noticing dust underneath the glass lens cover. It seemed every day there was more and more. So I removed the glass by prying a pin underneath it, and as you can see from the photos, my finger slipped! Worse than that, the adhesive strip holding the glass cover to the lens was damaged, so I had to use glue. And now my phone looks like this.

Im really hating myself for doing that. I should have just learnt to live with the 30+ specs of dust on the lens. The dust is gone and the camera still works, but it would have been so easy to ruin it beyond repair.

On top of that, made the mistake of getting one of those clear crystal cases off ebay to protect my phone. What you see in the photo isn’t dust, they’re deep scratches that the case put on the keypad. There are scratches on the other side of the keyboard too, and ive noticed a few smaller ones on the screen.

But worst of all, I updated my phone to the R1CA037 firmware this week (from the 029 firmware the phone came with), and now I cant take portrait photos without getting really bad flashburn. The photo of my hand would come up perfectly with the old firmware. So now my camera is rendered useless until Sony-Ericsson releases a firmware update, coz 99% of photos people take with camera phones are portraits.

Ive only had this phone for 3 weeks but it looks like its 3 years old! I know this is entirely my fault, but I cant help but feeling like none of this would have happened if Sony-Ericsson hadn’t released a dodgy product. I cant help shaking that feeling of being ripped off. Ive been taking out my frustration by recommending Nokias to my friends.

Would've been better to take the phone fully apart using a T6 screwdriver, would have been quicker and easier, not to mention easier on the finish!

I never trusted these crystal cases since it's inauguration in the market . . . I know that sooner or later it's HARD-plastic made corners will bring scratches on the fone it's better to USE those rubberized cases than the crystal ones . . . or BEST, just PLAIN - leather cases.

If anyone finds any dust underneath the lens cover please just try and put a vac on the loud speakerand it will suck out the crap under the lens cover.
No need to take phone apart to clear muck underneath the lens.
