Can anybody tell me what s/w formats are compatible with w950i if i need to install one?
And if i need to install games, do i install .jar or .sis. If its .jar , then do i install .jad too?
TIA.

.sis means that the software was developed specifically for the symbian os, there is an issue here though as there's different versions of this, as well as different user interfaces placed on top of these OSs -basicaly anything that's been made for UIQ3 will run on your phone, but not UIQ2 or S60.
.jar/.jad programs are written in a language called JAVA which is cross platform compatible - ie. any device capable of running java apps, of which there's a LOT! the only issue with this is that certain java programs may not run on your phone because say the graphics might be set up for a different size screen etc, I guess you have to suck it and see....
No, you don't have to install both java files, as they are the same program formatted in different ways for maximum compatability on different devices. I believe your phone can run either, but I always use the .jar version on my P1.
Hope this makes things clearer!
