I just want to know, can having a very old sim card in a phone make the handset keep restarting?
my boss at work just bought a W910i and everytime she tries bluetooth/music player/opening picture folers etc the phone restarts itself.
or could there be another reason.
btw. it's locked to vodafone network so all the usual vodafone crap on it!

yes it can, something to do with the different voltages?
can cause a number of random problems from restarting, to bluetooth not working.
a new sim will sort it out

You will find there are bugs with this phone. This is 1 of them.
Visit over the firmware thread.

Can I just correct dicky here....
as long as it's a mini sim it will be a 3V sim, it might only be an old 32k sim in terms of size but that shouldn't affect anything at all. it sometimes doesn't work the other way IE, new sim in old phone but it should most def work old sim in new phone!
I'd say it's a FW issue myself....
try it with another Voda sim

I have a similar problem with an mtn pay as you go sim card. My sister uses an old 16k sim card. When she calls me, my phone just freezes and displays a white screen with s6me nasty sounds as if something is burning up then it turns off. By the time she privatise her number everything works fine. I only get the problem from her calls only. What could be the problem? Is it because of that her sim is very old or it might be having a virus if that is possible?

slightly off topic, but i didnt want to start a new 1.
has anyone changed over sim cards from an older 1 to a new one?
if i wanted to do it, how long would it take? i have an account on o2 through CPW online, could i do this through one of the CPW or o2 high street stores?

O2 won't touch it, because it's not an O2 account, it's a CPW account.
O2 normally transfer it to a new sim free of charge in 48 hours, christ knows what CPW will do. I suspect their exact words will be "go to the O2 shop or call O2.....now get the hell out of my shop and make way for new customers!". Ok, last bit might be a tiny exaguration but you get the idea
