So this is what happens.

I install the USB driver from the CD and the computer recognizes the phone the first few times i connect to it with the USB cable. After about 5-6 times, it shows me a 'cannnot recognize device' message (picture attached). Then I have to uninstall driver and reinstall it.

My current firmware version is this: R1CA021. This shouldn't have anything to do with it, should it?

Installing from the CD I don't really have to do that manually do I? I didn't come across any such option or a suggestion that I would have to carry out 5 different installations. How would I install the 5 seperate drivers then?

Thanks for your help.

turn off the phone, change the Usb port and conect the phone to the cable again, it worked for me.

I tried putting it in 3 different ports and got the same result. When I reinstall the drivers using the CD, it doesn't matter which port I use. The phone gets recognized regardless for the first few times.

You tried cleaning the fast port connector on the bottom of your phone?

Use a pencil eraser & lightly clean all the small brass contacts & try again.

I got the solution from the esato archives.

"Download this

http://www.sonyericsson.com/downloads/750_USB_Drivers.zip

Unzip it ..

after unzipping, then open the folder and search for files having the extension .inf, highlight all those files and and right click .. click the install option.. now connect your phone .. i hope you wont have any more problem .. "

It works for now. Thanks for your suggestions.
