guess this shows apps included on the firmware can be updated without having to update the firmware itself

I just installed this on my P990 and it works great, noticeably better than the ROM included PDF+ version.
However, this upgrade does not overwrite and replace PDF+, so now I have both the upgraded PDF+ Standard, and the ROM edition PDF+.
Any ideas how to get rid of PDF+?

Yep, it is. Go to the bottom of the page and you can download the ROM update version.

What sort of pdf files does it open? I tried to open a brochure type - this one infact
www.citroen.co.uk/loeb/loebBr.pdf ~2.3 MB and it wasn't making a lot of headway

Yes, there is a great improvement. There are a few interesting things I've noticed.
It says:
version 1.75 (05)
PDF version: 1.5 (partially)
The ROM version must be using some parts from the ROM itself for licensing purposes..
At any rate, the author should be commended for including the "forgotten" UIQ3 devices in this update. I hope this will be a good example and set a precedent for others such as Opera.
Good work @ares.
