you still need to bring it to a servicepoint for firmware upgrades

The P800 is running a full operating system in Symbian version 7. In this case the "firmware" will be simply used to boot the operating system, and to provide low level functions such as hardware access. So we are talking here of two things now - a) the firmware to bootstrap the o/s and b) the o/s itself which is Symbian 7.
Cytech, can you confirm if we can upgrade the o/s itself just like what we are able to do with Compaq's iPAQ PDAs or Palm for that matter?

updating the Symbian operating system will probably be possible to do by end users.... I think

can't really answer yes or no to your question arnoldc... we haven't gotten much info about P800 yet, and right now

is probably busy in the preparation of their new serviceorganisation launched next year, so they don't really care about anything else right now
