I think that you all know Nokmote, the app which uses the built in Acceleromter to control the phone.
Yesterday Samir had released the first beta for donators.

Here are some screenshots and one video:

@symbianworld

Nice Video and in closing you ask on your site what do you think of it?

Well personally i think it appears to require more effort than doing it the normal way so whilst it may impress the easily impressionable it will be a cold day in hell before i would consider putting such a completely and utterly pointless piece of software anywhere near a devcies of mine. There is most probably a very good reason why Nokia didn't implement any of these totally worthless uses for the accelerometer in the first place.

I also have reservations about some one who says all my software will be free and then makes all his new apps only available for beta testing to those that donate. Donation's are meant to be voluntary not if you want my apps early to claim your special or are a Beta tester and inflate your ego's you have to pay.

I have no problem with any developer being compensated for his work as indeed they should be. But if you look around at the amount of people that are happy to now pay to be Beta testers for him it is obvious he is generating a good revenue from this. As more and more people feel the need to be amongst the special paying Beta Testing masses.

I much prefer the approach of other app creators that just do what they need and release an app that works and at this time if people want to they can donate to show appreciation to the developer for his work not this pseudo extortion and being special cheap marketing employed by Samir. Some are holding him up as this great guy doing all this for people for nothing which basically is just rubbish i think many would be shocked at the revenue he is generating as from going round the forums the amount of people wh are paying Beta testers is large.

@Dogmann:
You are being too harsh, now. Calm down.
It's a nice/not too good app. Period. There's no need to "overexplain" yourself.

@NightBlade

You may well hold a different opinion and maybe if you had used the app and said why you feel differently about it that would of been fine.

But please don't tell me to calm down or anything else for that matter as that's not your call to make. Same as if you feel i am being too harsh explain why in more than three words if you can manage that. Also again don't tell me i am over explaining myself or any other such rubbish just because you can't string a sentence together doesn't mean the rest of us can't.

One liners like it's rubbish are pointless and give no meaning to a post at least i have explained what and why i have problems with this app and the developer.

Marc

I am with Marc on this issue.

The developer should not hide behind an obligatory "donation" if he or she actually wants people to pay for using it. It is a dishonest act.

the program is actually free after it is fully completed,so the people arent paying for the program when they are donating.donations are helpful because
he wastes his own time for other peoples pleasure/benefit and they are also an encouragement, he could easily charge 5pounds per each program and alot of people will buy them.

@mo-00786

As i said i have no problems with developers or even theme creators asking for donations on finished work after all they deserve it and with out them our devices wouldn't' be as good and often i do donate.

Again as i explained my problem is it's sort of a con people donate to be first with Beta testing an app as they appear special or better than others and they are paying for the privilege it's truly a great marketing concept but not one i agree with.

I would be far happier if he asked for donations once it was finished or even charged for the finished product. If you or others are happy then pay and be Beta testers it's your money and your choice. I haven't said anyone shouldn't or what he is doing is dishonest or wrong only that i don't like it is all which is MO that i am entitled to.
