My k800i died whilst starting a game. Now it just blinks the red IR light when I try to turn it on. People on other forums have suggested flashing it and updating the erom using da vinci. I bought credit, downloaded client but it doesn'r recognise my phone (nothing happens at all).
Any ideas?
Any help would be appeciated as it is out of warrenty and will just go in the bin if i can't fix it......

sounds more like the erom has gone.
doing this recently revived a k800i that blinked 8 times when i pressed the on switch
install the flash drivers from wotanserver
get the wotanserver client from
http://www.wotanserver.com
start it up and erase all the login info
connect the cable to the computer and hold 2&5 on the phone and plug the cable in.
wotan should update the erom for free in about 30seconds
detach the cable from the phone and leave the battery out for a few mins.

Thanks for advice, however I have already tried this with wotanserver and when I connect the wire (holding 2 + 5) nothing happens. Can you tell somehow when client is updating erom? It looks as though it doesn't see the phone at all?

According to the wotanserver guide you press start and then connect phone?
Either way the blue bar at the bottom goes left to right and message screen says waiting. This just goes on and on

my bad, you do have to click start THEN hold 2&5 and connect the cable.
when it does detect the phone and update the erom, it should look like this:
Code:Connect your phone, pressing \"C\"
waiting...
phone found.
phone found at position 1
DB2020 detected
CL00 CI00 OCI00 __ __ __ SL00 OCL00 __
LOADER: OK

FC ID: 20 19
connecting to server
connection OK
sending login
EROM: starting upgrade
EROM: done
Now disconnect phone and remove battery for a while.

if it doesnt work, it looks like you may need a service cable to repair it
