Hello folks, three are now doing they usb modems on payt.
for a £10 top-up every 30 days you get 1gb of data. Which would suit my needs from time to time. what i wanna know is:
I already have a usb modem sitting waiting doing nothing. So could i just buy a three sim card, get it put onto the payg data plan and then us it in the modem?
Oh and i know they say you cant use them with a router, but is it possible to use it with a router without a PC?

1. Go for the deal that includes the new modem. Less hassle that way.
Edit:
Oh sorry, you mean use it with a router

"No" is the answer, you normally have to set the network up to use the PC with the USB 3g card as the internet gateway, all other machines connect through it.

But what are the advantages of the usb modem. I usually connect to the pc internet using my phone and the usb data cable. Its fast and efficient. Ive never tried the mordem. The only disadvantage is that in most cases it says page can not be displayed. So does the mordem solve this problem.

There are no real advantages as such. The modems were developed mainly for people who's phones do not have fast mobile internet access such as 3G. In terms of performance, I don't think there's much difference except that the USB modems are arguably more stable.
