I'm sure this issue has been raised before but can't find anything about it.

I've been using M3 to convert DVD's to the P1i, this was proving ok until I took a 7 hour flight. The problem is that the P1i does not have the volume required to compete with the planes engines. Is this a known issue or is it something I need to fix in the ripping converting process?

There are really lowsy airplanes...
I've bought a Creative HN 700 headphones that have active noise canceling and I really recommend it, specially for humming noise environments.
They were so effective tha I even slept with them on (no music) lol

Why don't you use inner earphone?

Yes, I am using in-ear headphones, not the one's that came with the phone but quite expensive Sony ones. Normally they are good at keeping out back ground noise.

The thing is that all the stuff I have downloaded of UKNOVA and converted has a loud volume when played, but anything I have ripped and converted is to quite for the plane.

Think got what you mean, when I am taking a noisy train, however, inner earphone still works OK for me.

I recently bought Sennheiser MM 50 in-ear headphones. The sound quality is much better than of those in the box (P990 box in my case) and the sound level is higher due to the design. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a good quality wired headphone/handsfree.

I also have a pair of Sennheiser and i find no diference between these and the ones coming out of the box of a p990i and a P1i. You simply have to raise your volume to 200% when you convert your files.I always do this and i have a good volume.

The difference, for me, is that they fit better in my ear thus less of the sound is lost.
Doesn't the sound get a little distorted if you increase the conversion volume to 200% ?

No,the sound is ok at 200 procent. I use Smart Movie. I used to use Mp4 Mpegable which is very simple and works like a charm. It's also M3 but doesn' work on my pc, nor SUPER which frozez most of the time.
