Since Nokia has launched the N82, more and more people are talking about its Xenon-flash. They want to know how good the flash is and whether it’s better than a flash of a real camera. Therefore I’ve made a little test using the N95 8GB, N82 and a Kodak Z740. I shot with every device some pictures in dark rooms and compered them. Here are the results:

A CMOS-based camera phone can only compete with a CCD-based digital camera when comparing shrunken photos. I doubt that many Kodak Z740 owners bought their cameras to view 0.7 MP photos on a monitor, just as I doubt that many N95 or N82 owners will be printing 8x10 blow-ups of their photos . . .

Show us the 100% crop and well see how those CMOS camera phones perform. anyway there's no doubt Kodak wins

even with these 4mp babies N95/N82 wont win

@Boba, don't fool yourself bud ! With all this mayhem about digital cameras,Kodak is one of the top dogs in total volume sold (well nokia is now the biggest dig. cam. manufacturer). Just bother to look on the net before discounting kodak. You'll be surprised I believe most pictures posted on flicker come from this very same model ! It may not be high-end, but certainlt is hugely popular. I've expected the n82 to top the test, but the N95 8gig surprised me most. It certainly is a 'grown up' device. I can't wait for the WIMAX, touche screen version
