Hi folks. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. My touchscreen went out 36 days after purchase direct from sonyericsson. The bastards would not replace my phone. It has been sitting at Sony repair in Indiana for 2 weeks now. Master reset, firmware upgrade etc could not fix it. Any thoughts. Thanks

Yes, the screen would not recognize any tactile input. I could scroll through the menu with the jog dial but could not select anything. I was able to answer incoming calls by pressing the jog dial. Absolutely maddening. Still waiting to hear back from Sony.

Hi,

May I know why was your warranty voided by the shop? Did they suspect it was due to wear and tear?

It's a defect product. They should have replaced it.

I purchased the phone DIRECTLY from sonystyle on the web. Sonyericsson maintains that after 30 days, the phone will be repaired but not replaced. To add insult to injury, they refused to ship the phone to Sony repair at their cost. I had to lay out $32 to send the phone to the authorized Sony repair center in Indiana. I've been a loyal sony customer since the original Clie and this is how they treat me. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

But even if they replaced a new phone still have to buy a new screen cover...

A friend of mine had the same problem with his P990. They didn't have a screen in stock so he had to wait for 2 weeks before the screen was replaced under warranty. Fortunately the SE repair center is close to my home so that I can just drop the thing off... SE repair and replacement policy has so far been pretty decent, I hope it doesn't follow suit with their customer relations policy as that is one of the few things remaining in SE's favor...

Have they informed you of a date by which you can expect the phone to be repaired and returned? If not, this is indeed poor customer service.
