Tested and proofed it personally, P1i works with HPM-82 handsfree earphone, I mean the remote control! +/- volume, skip tracks, play/pause, and talk mode buttons function properly, in Music Player mode.

To those who claims it dosen't work when I went to their shops without letting me trying,

Hi moderator, can you pls move this post to Tips and Tricks? Thanks.

Who said P1 is not compatible with HPM 82? afaik W950 uses that as standard earphones provided in the package. W950 has the same OS baseline with P1 so it is compatible! anyway it's nice that you test it yourself to clear your doubts

It works with my P990i too.
Except Only if I use desk stand to charge and listen music at the same time, then it doesn't work. P990i can't seem to find HPM-82 via desk-stand . Otherwise it's perfectly working.

Also hpm-90 works with p1i, you can see the track's artist & title, skip track, and change volume. However it cannot change radio station. Hpm-90 doesn't work perfect with m600 (no title displayed on the lcd), dunno about w950 and p990

Probably because of the old firmware since it was declared end-of-life by SE

on the other hand HPM-90 will perfectly work on W950 and P990

Hi guys,

Most people don't know walkman remote control HPM 82 works on P1. Cus HPM is designed for walkman. And those designed for P1 does not have remote or if blue tooth, cannot play radio.

hello,

I just bought some sealed HPM-82 's of ebay, for about £13, they look pucker and the seller has a good rep. I plug them into my P1i but they don't register and the little handsfree message doesn't pop up on the screen. Am I supposed to do anything else?

I bought to replace a cheapo 3.5mm adapter I had from hong kong that began coming apart after 6 weeks. I still have that and when I plug it in it says handsfree straight away. I note that it has fewer pins on the cable than the new Sony one I've got.

Is there something I'm supposed to do or should I assume it's broke/fake?

Cheers

Except SE still says they're on the non supported list, and won't update the specifications. Which means that if you go to a store and says - yeah, I really like those earplugs.. oh, but does it work with my phone? Then the clerk will say - oh, hold on, I'll look it up for you on my nifty screen here... no, it seems it's not supported, sorry. But I can give you this hpm-75 instead.. oh, wait, we're out of stock, no one bought one of those since 2005..

It's one of those awesome things SE does, just to show how much they really care about smartphones.
