It seems that since I updated my P1i with the new firmware -

my phone network got much weaker. In some places I've only got 1-2 bars, while other phones got full 5.
Has this happened to anyone else?

You have to remember that 1 or 2 bars with the 3g symbol next to it is actually higher than 5 bars without it - as it now represents the 3g signal.
Are the other phones your comparing with 3g?

I can confirm the above, my P1 was showing 2 bars with 3G attached and 5 bars on GSM (when I eventually found the option. Call quality was the same both times...
