I have been using Sony Phone Explorer since my K700i (3 years)
Got my new W880i and it came with SE PC Suite
Wouldn't install on Win Vista - downloaded new version from Sony site
Installation took hours - Finally
It says my phone is in 'File' mode and needs to switched to 'phone' mode - switched it to phone mode and it now say my phone is 'not connected' it clearly was - ran my ol Sony Phone Explorer which worked a treat (mega fast via USB too)

Phone Explorer can connect via infra red - usb - blue tooth - synchronise calanders, messages, contact, files - save back ups - upload games to the phones (K700 & W880) - so my question is:

Why should i bother with Sony PC Suite?
What does it do better than Phone Explrer?

If phone explorer does all you need I would stick with it. There were always possible issues with SE pc suite of not recognizing various phones occasionally.

Well if it's just a case of need - my ol K700i does all/more than i 'need'

I just want to know what i'm missing by not using PC Suite

Personally I don't think you're missing anything. PC Suite just isn't worth it - PhoneExplorer is much better.

yep, se pc suite is pretty lame. Worse, I find the Phone explorer function of PC Suite buggy and unreliable.

You are much better of using usb storage protocol (file transfer) for file copying and My Phone Explorer for phone integration.

I use MPE for multi sync, pictures and themes via BT, and USB cable for MP3 storage only straight from Windows to F: SE V630i. I don't bother with PC Suite or disc2phone at all even though both are loaded onto my laptop.

According to Zillertaler, MPE and PC Suite are two opposite ways of doing the same thing, both having advantages and disadvantages. For me though, the overriding factors are appearance and usability, where MPE is the clear winner. The latest PC Suite is much improved appearance-wise so I hear...
