Hi, I'm new, but I read this forum daily and I have been in the market for a new phone since November.

I've always had provider branded phones so I'm deciding to break out of that mode. I have never had a Nokia or a Sony Ericsson so I have no personal experience with any of them. But I would like one. I've had branded Samsungs and a Motorola. I did not like the feel, operation, or look of them.

My requirements:
A Decent Camera with Xenon
Somewhat Decent Music capabillities
Candy Bar form factor
I don't change phones often so what I get is what stays

It got to the point where I couldn't decide between N82 and K850.

I recently decided to omit the Nokia N-series simply because I just don't need all of the features it has to offer.

However, the k850 seems to be plagued with so many problems it completely saddens me.

To make matters worst i live in America so I need the 850mhz Band and on AT&T which limits me even further. I know AT&T is planning to launch the k850 in March but by then I've probably moved on.

I was hoping a new K-Series phone would be revealed @ CES this year but nope.

So should I:

Just get the k850 now and deal with the problems? (keep in mind I am in America so its gonna be a pain to get it repaired/exchanged)

Wait for early February for Sony Ericsson to make a K-Series release?

My least favorite option get a k790a?

Help please! I'm hoping to get some good advice from you experts.

I think you should just got for the K850. The new firmware update is bound to fix almost all problems (and improve the camera, too!).

Since you keep your phones for long then id say get the N82, it will keep entertained with its Accelerometer apps, Symbian OS, Ngage games and the best 5mp camera. With Symbian OS you can get a lot of great apps to increase functionality and make your N82 more interesting! The N82 is just simply better than K850 end of story.
Ive read that even with the new FW the K850 still aint great.

but i would waste most of the hardware:

Wifi - i never use it
N-gage - uhh naw Ill just go home

I know im going to really waste all the features on it.
I just need to:

listen music, occassionally snap some shots, and make calls. Hell I don't even text.

buy k790a and wait for the next k-series phone or the next firmware for k850.

Hey quick questions for k850:

1) Can U.S get the 038 yet?

2) in music mode if i play music and phone hits stand-by does the volume rocker still work?
