We all know that has HGE 100 as GPS Enabler for non GPS phones but still it has remained a question weather it can work with Google Mobile Maps. Of course it can work with Wayfinder but for their GPS Integration you have to pay a lot. So you are left with Google Mobile Maps. as far as trekbuddy is concerned again there is lot of programing etc. is required by user level ( if i am wrong then can you please explain how to put Google maps and use it offline ? ).

So my question to you is that weather you believe that will launch a new and better accessory at "The Mobile World Congress" ? The Mobile World Congress will be held on 11 to 14th February 2008 at Barcelona Spain.

Also, do you like that New GPS Accessory should again be in a form of Hands-free or you like to get like this ( in picture the GPS accessory is attached with hacked iPhone) :-

I'm not sure about new hardware, but I wish they'd release some new software for the HDE-100 to make it useable. Spent £50 on it and is just gets used as headphones at the moment. They really need to have an app with some basic built in mapping so it works, is quick and you don't need a data account. For the UK, something that gives your location in OSGB (rather than Lat/Long) would be useful as we could then use it with our standard maps.

I personnally prefere a good old fashioned Bluetooth GPS. Works perfectly with all the modern SE phones.

Hi,

Actually there is a good piece of free software you can try: Wayfinder Active. It is java based and runs in your phone. Works with the HGE-100 or I presume any other GPS.

It gets the "wayfinder maps" (overview maps with streets etc) for free (but of course you pay for the download depending on your price plan). Download size seem to be small though. (In Sweden) you can also pay for access to terrain maps with really high detail level.

Then once installed you can record routes, see the map in your phone as you go, and then upload the entire route to the below site, and a summary including a map is sent to your email adress from the site.

Pretty cool I think!

On http://www.activeoutdoor.com there is also an online community to which you then can upload routes and join forums etc. Seems pretty focused on training, but even if you don't like the bits about training the mapping/routing part is cool... (you have to register to see the routes).

NOKIA has went so far with built in GPS modulators in many devices
I think SonyEricsson would announce good news about it

the good thing about Nokia is that you can save Nokia Phones to your device so GPS become free. Thanks for the wayfinder active link. Still Google Maps are much better than any other mapping service but i am trying to explore what other companies like just you mentioned are offering. I am looking for an alternate in which Google Maps and HGE 100 can work in coordination.
