you need to utilise xs++ and hack into your phone. There is no easy way I'm afraid. though once you learn how to use xs++ it's pretty straight forward.

I can't get the link for you becuase se-nse (that hosts it) is down now. But when you get a chance goto se-nse.net, and search the tutorials section for xs++ 3.0

I´ve found a program on getjar called FileExplorer: http://www.getjar.com/softwar[....]sson/K810i/Search/fileexplorer
, installed it on the phone (K770), looked up the file I wanna get rid off, press attribues/information something about the file, uncheck the box "read only" and then just delete.
There´s a modded Opera around somewhere that you can use aswell.

Please help a newbie out.

Can I download the FileExplorer to my PC and use the application from there with my phone connected via the USB cable? If I can, what do I need to do to install the application onto the PC to get it to work? My phone is a W580i and I would like to delete a protected file.

If this application will not work on the PC, will the XS++ ?

most protected files that come with branding are not so easy to delete. The drm used to protect the files goes further than simply marking the file read only.

XS++ is the best bet.

As max_wedge wrote there´s probaly a difference between branded firmware and generic (unbranded) firmware.
If you have the jar file on your pc and wanna give it a try, then you transfer it to your phone either via bluetooth (it would install itself then) or via the Usb cable and put it in the "other" folder on phone memory, then just look up the "other" folder on the phone and press install.
I´ve used it successfully on my K770 with "unbranded" firmware to get rid of those SE ringtones and videoclips.
It was really annoying to hear that ringtone kickin´in (that of some stupid reason was put in the music folder of SE) when listening to music in random mode.

Link to modded Opera 1.20: http://rangers.wen.ru/java/opera120.jar
I got the impression that the File manager was slightly better in this one than those others form getjar.
But that´s just my opinion.

Have a good one!
