Hello all.
Just recently, my K850 got sent away to SE because I was having problems with the software on it. It's come back, and it's not completely right, but it's better. Ever since it came back, I've not been able to connect to my computer. I uninstalled all the software that I installed with my old phone (K800), and tried to reinstall and reconnect my phone.
This is where my problems started. Windows XP does not even pop up to say that I've plugged in new hardware. The SE software that came with my K850 doesn't let me connect to the phone, it says it can't find it. I've tried reinstalling my USB drivers, getting rid of all SE software and starting from scratch, but to no avail. I am really at the end of my rope!!!!! Before my phone was sent away to SE, it connected quite cheerfully, and I was able to do all the stuff that the software supports. Now I can do nothing.
Here's the really frustrating bit..........SEUS recognises that my phone is plugged in, and lets me update it, so clearly the computer must have a slight inkling it's there, coz if it didn't, it wouldn't let me do that, right?? I'm thinking it's a Windows problem, but I'm stumped, and am getting very very very frustrated. Help anyone??

When you connect your phone to the cable and PC, does the USB mode menu appear on the K850i? i.e Phone Mode, Mass Storage etc

Just as an extra point, Hardware manager doesn't show my phone in there, either. the "Add New Hardware" wizard comes up dry, too. Also, my stepdad (a bit more computer savvy than me) suggested that maybe the pootah was trying to assign the wrong drive letter to my phone, but that isn't the case either. I know it's not a USB problem, my I-pod works fine in any port, and I get exactly the same problem with my phone whichever slot I shove it into.

Well, AFAIK PC have more than one USB port. Try another port, at the front or backside of your PC.

Yeah, I did that, too. Nothing. I also tried the digital camera in a USB slot, and the machine, and XP pops up, and asks me what I want to do with it. Still nothing with my poxy phone.

Or you can try connecting with a BT dongle if you have one handy.
I find mine connects after about 10 - 15 seconds but sometimes I have to run the wizard to get it going.

A BT Dongle?? Would I be likely to have one of those lying about?? Assuming you only have one if you are a BT user, no I wouldnt, I use Virgin, for my sins. I thought the problem might lie with my old dongle, the one I had for the K800, so I binned it, and used the one that came in the box with my 850, but nothing, still.
