i am soon, and am wondering how cheap i may get the phone from your experiences?

my situation is i am coming to the end of an 18month, £20 contract, but my average spend over the last 6 months (which i have heard is relevant) is almost £30.

what about you, how much did they charge you for the phone? did you haggle? did you go through to retentions?

i went through retentions and got the p1i for £20 on a £22.50 a month contract. 200mins, 400txts and unlimited data.

strange thing is i agreed to pay £90 for the phone originally but then i got an answerphone message saying they were only gonna charge me £20 - which was nice...

hmm, that gives me an idea, i'm a bit worried about going to retentions though incase they just say ok go to another network lol. Any idea what your average spend is?

Any more stories would help.

yeah my girlfriend has the same worries about retentions, but whats the worst that can happen? They aren't exactly gonna chuck you off the network if you change your mind at the last minute!

my average spend is prob about £30 including insurance.

I got a P1 on upgrade from O2 last August.
Still on my 12 month contract.
£29.99 per month + £8 insurance.
Bills are between £50 - £90 per month.
The P1 was free

hi guys

if they put you through to retentions and you don't get the offer you want or they're happy to give you your PAC code, just say "ok i'll think over my options for a few days and then call back later" (or words to those affect), hopefully you'll speak/get through to someone different next time and may get what you want.

Just keep trying and hold out for what you feel is a good deal

oh and also do you research, see what other networks/tariffs are available so you can be prepared with "well T-mobile are offering....." or "spoke to Orange and they said ....."

good luck

great tips thanks, i'm so desperate for my P1i though i don't know if i could wait an extra day lol. I have done some reasearch so hopefully i'll get slightly better contract and the phone for free or a small charge.

just a thought has anyone ever tried asking for an 18 month contract to be shortened to 12 months? I love the P1i but 16 months with one phone is a killer.
