Has anyone ever seen a Z558i? They were announced in 2006 but I have never seen anyone talk about them or seen one for sale.

Apparently an importer here in NZ sells them but thats all I've ever seen or heard of it! Our only GSM service provider didn't even pick up the Z550i on which its based.
Oh and GSMArena lists it as available. Don't know whether thats anything to go by though.

I looked for one recently, but the only place I'd ever seen with them, had discontinued them!
Had been hoping to see how DB2020 dealt with a touchscreen(i.e: any better than UIQ??)......

I was talking to one the other day at YouTube, who might be interested in buying one. Can't remember where he was from, though

How exactly did it work? Did SE create a touch screen version of A100?

The touch screen works ONLY on writing sms mode. All operations use dpad.
Btw it is sold here in Indonesia. Yeah, it never makes hit. Both Z550 and Z558 aren't popular here though.

I have one, got it for free actually and it's quite a nice change from a P990, small, simple and light. Never hanged on me, not even once since i first had it over 6 months ago, very stable and reliable. The touchscreen could do with some work though, the handwriting recognition is so slow, it beats the purpose of a touchscreen in the first place, I'm better off using the multitap input. The 1.3 mp camera is completely useless, no AF, no LED flash, crappy sensor, the usual SE specs no doubt and this includes it stylish, sleek designer phone look. It just gives you a nice feeling holding one

Too late reply for this but,..
Had a chance to get hold of it and try, nice phone, good looking, screen is not flushed from the surface (maybe to protect the TS from damage). i tried my MXE-60(weird idea considering the location of the camera as well as it's form) on it and it was recognized, but not worked as it only shows the "MXE-60" window but it does not close the pop up window. never crashed during my moments with it. i wished SE continues developing T-S phones like this and make A200 platform work with or without T-S just like UIQ nowadays.
