i have failed to open a file larger than 1MB using documents to go, whilst with the quickoffice, it ain't a problem, does anyone experience this and have a way out?

thanks!

That sounds weird! I've managed to open really large documents with images in Docs2Go (we're talking 3-4 megabytes here)

Yeah on my end documents to go was also working with large files. The only problem i found was that it was a tad slow when i was typing. The program found it hard to keep up, but the same file in quickoffice had no problem.

weird. what have i done wrong? my file consists of lots of sheets, could that be a problem? it was the same on P1 and W960 though, always states "out of memory"

i have used Swiss Man Pro to reclaim all the lost memory and back to 72MB+ before opening the file.....could that be the culprit that my file got lots of sheets?

I second that. I still find typing on quickoffice is much faster and smoother

Never had an out of memory error. But maybe look at what is included in the document, my most recent document was 11 pages had a few pictures and text boxes but it still worked.

Oh right, well i've never really used the excel docs to go for anything above 1 or 2 sheets, in any case when i had a problem with docs to go i emailed dataviz (company who makes the program) they helped me out quickly and efficiently.

Maybe you can look into that? Alternatively can i suggest maybe splitting the sheets up into several files? So if you had nine sheets, make 3 files parts 1, 2, 3 and have each with 3 sheets. Is that at all possible?

I work really a lot with word,
Docs To Go opens big files but the biger the file - the slower typing and editing.
Once I made a test - opened a 80 pages file, selected All, copied and pasted again to make a 180 pages file.
It took 20 minutes to do that.
Quickoffice is nice, but usually never opens files larger than 15 pages or so.
Also, DocsToGo offers much bigger editing/formatting abilities, like creating tablets.
Problems with opening files are due to processor speed, but also this version of Quickoffice is worse than on P910, in terms of memory footprint.

hi 5nak3,

the problem is, it's my wife doing the sheets on the computer, and i use it as my daily reference for stock taking i doubt she'll want to restructure the whole files

but the idea may be a good thing though, or may be i'd send dataviz email and see what they can do

thanks

hi doministry,

it's a pity there's a limitation on quickoffice too, i don't do editing frequently, i thought i can depend on quickoffice for now, but see the future, it's nowhere near it now......

thanks
