Hi everyone

I've been using the P1i for a week now and there's a few questions I've got about using it and things I've not managed to figure out yet.
I've successfully de-branded my phone with XS++ and upgraded it with SEUS.

1) I've found that for answering/ending calls, using the stylus can be a bit fiddly. So I've been using my fingers to press the screen for those simple operations. If I have to keep getting the stylus out all the time it's not going to be long before it disappears down a drain or on a train track!

Will using my finger damage the touch screen?
Or is it ok?
I've found using the corner of my thumb works well in terms of quickly being able to press one of the 3 select buttons that appear at the bottom of the screen.

2) In the Calendar application, is there iCal/RSS remote calendar sync support?
Our company shared calendars are published using iCal format so it would be cool to be able to access those, and other iCal files on the internet... eg: public calendars from Google Calendar.

3) How do I immediately end a task?
When I press and hold the 'back' button, the application is still running in the background. The only way I've found to do end a task is through Task Manager. Is there short-cut key to end a task/application?

4) How on earth do I set a picture from the memory stick as a wallpaper?
When I open the picture the wallpaper option is just greyed out.
But when I look into the folder in the internal phone memory with the default wallpapers and open one of those pictures, the 'set as wallpaper' option is not greyed out and works fine!
Can you only have wallpapers set from the internal phone memory?

5) When choosing a wallpaper, a scale/expand screen comes up.
What does that actually do?
And how do I get the wallpaper to just stay 100%, or to fill the screen best fit?

6) Is there a way to adjust the time-out on the auto keypad lock? I had a dig around the control panel and couldn't find anything.

7) I've downloaded the Gmail mobile java app but I always get a message saying this 'MIDLet' is untrusted or something. Is there a way to stop this and let the Gmail app connect when it needs to and have it marked as 'trusted'?

Turns out though the interface of the P1i UIQ covers the buttons at the bottom of the Gmail Java app and introduces an extra screen tap for every operation, which is pretty annoying as well. I used the Gmail Java app extensively on my K800.
I think I'll have to set up my Gmail as an IMAP account on the phone instead, to get more seamless email access.
Or just use the Gmail Mobile Browser version.

Is there a way to stop phantom folders appearing on my Memory Stick?
I formatted the MS and inserted it into the phone, and loads of default folders got created that I didn't ask for. Fair enough on the internal phone memory, but I want to organise my files/folders how I want. Not to have it dictated to me by some monolithic corporation!

I'd appreciate it if anyone has any answers to those questions.

Overall I'm finding this a great phone though

But here's a few observations / changes I would make:

- The interface feels a bit clunky sometimes - using shortcuts to create new messages, or read a message from the standby screen causes the Messaging application to flicker as the macros running behind the scenes tell it what to do.

- Also I wish there was a nav joystick and keys like the k800i, and a green/red call accept/reject buttons.
Or 3 buttons underneath the screen that correspond to the 3 select options you get at the bottom of the UIQ interface.

- Move the side jog wheel / back button closer to the top of the phone.

- Have a sliding lens cap over the rear camera just in case

- Set your own homepage in Opera and remove the 4 default bookmarks. And have saved pages stored as .wml files in a customisable location.

- A 3.5mm jack for regular headphones should be standard on ALL phones that can play music, so you don't have to use the phone's headset.

If those things were changed/improved, this would be the greatest phone EVER. Though it's pretty damn good as it is!

Thanks
Ben

I believe the user manual can answer most of your questions bro.
