Just thought I'd whip up a thread that probably a couple of people have been wondering from and had both good and bad experience from; Master Resetting.

I'm about to Master Reset my phone since it seems to act up a little funny. I think this might have to do with all the tinkering I've done to try and sort the POPM issues I'm having (but that's another thread).

Now, if I'd like to Master Reset my W960i, what can I do to store the default settings/media it came with?
So far I've heard that a Master Reset flushes everything out from the phone, including themes, backgrounds, ringtones, etc, etc, and I'd really like to avoid that. I'm in love with the W960i standard (silver looking) theme with its background, it's really sweet, and before Master Resetting it to get it to work properly I'd like to see if you guys have any experiences/tips on how to prepare for it so I don't lose these sweet add-ons.

Every comment appreciated!

Regards

I did it yesterday to try and get a fresh install of TomTom working but to no avail.

Seeing as my phone is only a week old, I saved all my photos and contacts. All themes, sounds, etc, all go APART from the silver theme. I'm sure we'd be able to ask someone on here to upload the other original items. Don't forget you'll lose your messages and/or any new folders with archived messages.

I can verify that you lose everything except what's on your media (8Gb) memory and the silver theme. It keeps the original sounds such as alarm signal too, but other than that, you're forced to get it elsewhere or try and backup with any other software you might have at hand.

Still, as long as you're quite happy with the defaults of the phone you got when you first booted it, then you could do this all day long.

One odd thing I've noticed; I can't use my browser (Explorer) to get to the stored photos on the memory card. It can't "see" the images either on the memory unit (as a mounted drive) or in the SE Mobile Phone Explorer. I had to move the files from the camera folder to another folder in order to get to them.
