This is a sample video I took from a K850 in a sony shop:
http://rapidshare.com/files/84187096/MOV00761.MP4.html
I was horrified at the frame rate where it recorded 7.5 fps. This has got to be the worst video capture I've seen on a premium device. Am I missing something coz if I'm not that it is a total disgrace. I'm aware of the fact that the fps would fluctuate depending on the surrounding and I thought it would go down to 15fps max for indoor capture but 7.5 is way too low. So yeah, is there a setting that would remedy this?

for video conversion settings on K850:
use a program called: MPEG4 direct maker or Total video converter.
set these and you will get super quality:
video bitrate: between 400 and 500 Kbps
audio bitrate: 96kbps stereo
framerate: 25
codec: Mpeg4 simple profile
file type: .MP4

@chombox1
I thought that it was the high bitrate in videos that was causing the problems we have been reading about. (picture lagging behind the soundtrack).
I'm sure I read on here that the video bitrate should be around 180 because of this.
Does your K850i play OK with those settings?

Are you kidding?
400 to 500 kbs is the k800 video bitrate and it was already a little pixelized,I am using a 140mb at 1020kbs video bitrate and apart a little slowness on the first 3 sec the video plays with no problems

Ah, thanks. I was converting videos with a high bitrate and they were lagging.

wow wow wow
1024Kbps!!!!
and your K850 plays it without lag???!! (you are making a mistake in numbers i think) if not.. what codec you are using?
even for my P990 i convert using 512kbps and the quality is superior.(and that bitrate causes a little lag on K850)
450Kbps plays OK, without lag and with superior quality on the K850.

It's perhaps a bug that you have
I think we must wait 4 more days so we can finally talk about final settings for video,audio etc...4 more days and we will have the famous FW

@mode
I thought you were exaggerating when you described that video but upon downloading it and viewing it for myself I see you were spot on. That is awful from a high-end camera phone. I can't imagine we'll ever see the day when an SE phone can record video as good as the N-Series phones that are capable of VGA 30fps.
As with most things on this phone, hopefully its just a firmware problem and not a limitation of the phones hardware!
