I want a P1i but Vodafone UK say they will not be stocking them as there are compatibility problems with their network in the UK... primarily that the internet browser function is very difficult to set up and too much bother for them to suffer masses of calls from customers trying to get setup! Has anyone bought a P1i and is using it on the Vodafone UK network? Can someone give me feedback so I can decide to buy one or move on to look for another phone...

They are just saying that because they do not have it in their offers.
I bougt a P1 from o2 and it was uunlocked. I have been using it with Vodafone in UK for at least 3 months and have never had any problems.
They are just told to say that.
THERE ARE NOT COMPATIBILITY ISSUES!!! THIS IS JUST ANOTHER PHONE!!!
They are selling W960, which is practically identical and there are no problems?

Unlocked sim free P1i here on my Vodafone UK contract since the end of December with no problems or incompatibilities whatsoever. In fact, when I first booted the phone with the Vodafone sim card for the first time, the phone itself asked if i wanted to download all the appropriate vodafone settings without asking it to. I let it do its thing for about 10 seconds and it was then all in there set up ... mms, sms, wap, grps settings ... everything.
I'll bet you what Vodafone really mean by their response to you is that it is not always easy to be absolutely sure that the phone is using wi-fi to browse the internet rather than over the phone network ... its all selectable ... its just that Ive been caught out a couple of times and landed a charge for browsing ... and I'm very used to UIQ. I know this kind of thing is often the no. 1 reason people call customer services to complain when they land a huge bill they werent expecting, thinking theyve been using wi-fi, but thats all just my thoughts on the matter.

Vodafone had
never stocked the P1. However as it's identical in setup to the M600 / W950 / W960 it shouldn't be hard for an advisor to talk you through the settings.

Vodafone have never sold the P1i in retail stores. We do sell it via corporate/enterprise though

I too use an O2 firmware unlocked P1i with my Vodafone contract sim, no problems. A very helpful Vodafone tech advisor I spoke to helped me set up the various services the phone - I say go for it.

I have had my P1i since August. I bought from an internet site so it was none branded and unlocked. It works fine with my VODAPHONE sim card.
To get the internet to work properly I had to get VODAFONE CS to email me the set up instructions for the M600. These worked fine and I have no problems getting on the internet with my P1i on the VODAFONE network.
The only thing that I do have a problem with is getting into VODAPHONE live but as I don't use that service anyway that is not a problem for me.
Ps I love my P1i, this is the phone that all of the other P series should have been.
