> How about a beginner's guide to UIQ?
Bookmark topic
Hi, I've had my W960 a few days now and it's my first foray into the world of smartphones (except a week or so with a Seimens SX1). I'm loving it but am only really using the basic features so far and want to start realising more of the phone's potential.
I think it would be useful for many people in my position to have a sticky thread that had lots of useful tips on UIQ such as how to install applications, where to find the best applications, what useful features there are that may not be immediately obvious, etc. "UIQ for dummies" if you like.
I know many of the queries will be answered elsewhere in separate threads but a single resource that is easy to find may help lots of people including those who are more familiar with UIQ.
Any thoughts?

FYI UIQ, UIQ2.X and UIQ3 are different things. One program dosen't work for another.

The phone's manual makes a good work at explaining most functionality.
Everyone has one, so I don't see your point.
In any case you can post here your doubts here as most of us are quite familiar with the UIQ way of working.

Yes, I am aware that there are different versions of UIQ but thanks for pointing that out. Maybe I should have stated UIQ3 or UIQ3.x but I thought there would be a lot of general advice that is true across the board.
I guess nobody thinks it's a good idea then. I just thought if there was a sticky thread that could contain the most frequently asked questions about what is quite a complicated UI that a lot of people might find it useful.
I have found the manual to be not completely informative. I have seen several threads on this forum about difficulties installing particluar applications and various solutions have been put forward, none of which are referred to in the manual.
The thread could also be a place to recomend useful resourses (i.e. websites that provide Freeware) or handy tips & tricks.

I think a thread like that is a great idea. ... we just need someone to write it.

Hi, like LAU said the phones manual is always a great place to start along with the "tips and tricks" forum. Also you need to note that the UIQ environment can change per phone e.g. the P990 running the same UIQ as the P1i (correct me if im wrong) has different parts to where you need to click for menus to appear thats why each has its own manual.
Sorry to say this, the P1i manual is one of the worst sh*t I have ever seen. It dosen't even explain how to properly remove the M2 card and the many functions in the phone program, Nokia has better guide.

Wow, so there is some support for something along these lines.
Maybe a preferable title should be "UIQ3 - FAQs", this could then be a first port of call for any query rather than posting a new thread for a question that may have been asked several times before.
I would start one now if I had the knowledge.
