Hi, i recently bought a k800i and have noticed that some people on here frequently use Document mode on their k800/k850. Close up shots and landscape too.
However i believe that document mode uses macro focus only so surely that close up shots would be best or not??
Can someone explain the best time where and when to use document mode? And possibly compare the same pic with Auto. It would be appreciated.

document is usually white paper, black letters and figures right? so, this mode is especially prepared to increase contrast between letters and background:
1. increased contrast
2. increased exposure compensation
3. macro mode
4. no flash
because of points 1 and 2 shouldn't be used for other scenes but of course can be if result is acceptable for you

My point is people have used this scene in different situations i.e daylight pics, close up water shots etc. And to good effect instead of just auto.

i guess if you select Document Mode and then shoot a non-document image ....the cam actually does not use the property of ''document mode' it shoots jst like a normal pic....imo...

Use doc-mode too shoot close and personal pics, with rich detail.
Imo if you shoot normal pics with doc they tend to blur.
This goes for K800, dont know about K850.

sry dont know abt tht but isnt there a JAVA app. in the k800 which explains those features?
mine had and was pretty useful...

Document mode can be used for any scene. it makes the pictures sharper , but could be a little noisy sometimes.
