"American Airlines has announced that it has completed the first of 15 planned aircraft installations of Aircell's WiFi based internet connectivity system. The system is scheduled to be installed on all of American's Boeing 767 planes, which are mostly used for its transcontinental flights, and will allow users with compatible laptops, PDAs, or cell phones to access email, web, and even VPNs from their seats. The Aircell system does not provide support for cell phone calls or VOIP applications, though.
Once the initial tests have proven themselves a success, and the FAA has issued the required certifications, the service will be opened up to in-flight consumers of all cabin classes for a fee. Passengers that do not wish to pay for the service can still access the American Airlines website and a Wall Street Journal Digest Edition website for free.
American Airlines has not said when it expects the system to be offered to consumers, but it did say that if the trials are successful, it could end up extending the service to all of its domestic routes."

I dont know maybe its my small imagination or limited brain
Are we not going to eperince a lot of congestion from these devices. Imagine yhe plane beimg mobile and a lot of people logged in.

presumably they will provide a system with sufficient bandwidth to allow for the expected number of users.
