I have a problem with music tracks copied to my w960i not appearing in the Walkman application.
Note: I have previously used the normal sync mode to copy albums, however that was dead slow, but that method worked fine and those tracks show up in the Walkman app.
After I transfered 6GB of music onto my w960i using the "fast file transfer mode" when connected to my PC, the songs do not appear in the listings in the Walkman player.
I used the ctrl-c/ctrl-v "copy & paste" method from an itunes playlist, and copied these into an adjacent folder on the 8GB Memory Stick to other albums which I have previously transfered and correctly show up in the Walkman application.
I can see the songs in the File Manager app, and play the new tracks one-by-one in the Walkman application by using the File Manager to "view", however these refuse to appear in the native Walkman app.
I have restarted the phone several times, to see if it is some file indexing issue, however this did not work.
PLs let me know if anyone has experienced this before and found a solution, or if this issue has been covered elsewhere, please post the link
- Thanks in advance, Tom

have you run the Update Music, or whatever it's called, option from inside the walkman player?

Fantastic, that worked.
Not that it matters to me, but I note it looses the ratings and playcounts when an update is performed.
Do i need to do that everytime I add songs using the file transfer mode? Is there a faster way around this as it took about 5mins to scan all the songs.
Many thanks,
Tom

Actually, you do. There's no automatic refresh of the music collection on the W960, so even after adding or deleting just 1 song, you have to run the update before the Walkman takes the change into account (if you delete a song, it may still show in the walkman playlists but you'll just get a playback failure if you try to play it, as the file is so longer there).

Strange, my P990 has the automatic update option so that I wouldn't have to manually update all the time after transferring files. Updating manually takes so much effort and time for the files to just appear

I agree, this seems crazy. When you add songs to a Ipod it songs are instantly and automatically available. Maybe there is some specific music sync software that I havent used yet, although as I just copy and paste from a selection in iTunes, keeping a second library is a less attractive solution.
Thanks to all contributors.
Thx, Tom

I think you have the option to either manually or automatically update music files.
The P990i offers such an option.

Hi thanks for posting. Are you sure these instructions are for a w960i?
Actually I have a pre-production unit which may not be fully up to date (although the update service advises there are no updates available) with the latest OS (from Sys Info: Phone CXC 162037 R9H004)
However on my phone there is no "file" option, there are 2 tabs under Preferences, "Update" and "Other".
Update page has
Include video spundtrack
Exclude Files of
Language
Complete Music Update
Other has
Rusume Audio
Show "The"...
Hide Artists...
Thx, Tom

equalizer
zoom
i klik on preferences... i see 2 tabs,
tab 1-play (open)
suffle
loop
resume audio
(automatic/manuel)
tab 2- Files! on this i klik and see
file update (what i am looking for, there you make the choice betwin automatic and manual update)
filter files
(no filter,less then 1mb,low quality)
