That is a phone intended for the japaneese market. It is like I-mode, but is intended for the network of one of their competitors.
Here is a news link about the phone:

Have you noticed how Japanese phones look so different to European and US models? I think it might be something to do with Motorola having a patent on 'flip' phones, which may not be applicable to Japan.

Harley,
I don't have the Communicam. Do you? I do love to take digital photos, but I have a 2.1 megapixel Cannon Elph, and I'm sure it takes MUCH better pictures than the communicam.
I have bought an MP3 player on Ebay; if I don't like it, I will just sell it on Ebay.
I also haven't tried to send any fancy messages on the VS network. I have successfully sent my business card via WAP when I was visiting my cousin in Houston (I think you're from Texas?) last week.
I do know that you may now SMS your friends with only their phone number if they have ATT, Verizon, or NexTel. We used to have to send it through an email gateway, but the carriers in the US are just now beginning to cooperate like they do in Europe.

I know Nokia has atleast had a flip-phone for the US market, the Nokia 282. And there are several flip-phones by other cell phone makers for the European market.
Anyone got any good info on why japanese phones always look the same? I believe a phone with the T68's design would sell really well over there!

Wow that looks really nice, im sure they would sell loads but it begs the question why they have gone back to having an external ariel again? Maybe the Japanese like ariels or something.

There are so many different types of phones in Japan not only flip phones. The flip type is just a popular design in japan right now. The t68 would not sell in Japan because the screen is too small. They like to browse the web and send emails and with a small screen you have to scroll too much so they prefer a larger screen. I read some where that cell phone technology in the world is 2-3 years behind compared to Japan. Another thing about Japanese phones is they are cheap you can get a cellphone similar to the one above for less than $200. If you wanted a phone with similar functions as T68 it would be free. An external antenna has better reception than an internal one.
