Hi All

my 850 has decided to throw a wobbly.

The Centre touch "button" has gained a life of it's own.

It is almost like someone else is touching it. but if I try to select Menu from the Standby screen it won't activate. If I go into Contacts and scroll down one name it will select that person. I press Back (right hand sensor) and scroll down another name it selects that automatically. The centre sensor is highlighted without touching it.

I rang O2 store who advised a download.

I have tried doing an Update via PC Suite but am getting an error that it can't get to the Update site.

I have tried reinstalling Updater and still no luck. My firewall is set to Permit All activitiy from Updater....

I have tried to go to the Updater Home Page from the menu and have no luck either with the Grey screen staying blank.....

Can anyone advise a) what could be wrong with the phone; and b) how to get the update....

this is a problem that some of us are experiencing, mine did the same so i had to send it for repair back with o2, its been a week hopefully it wont be too long.

Prince - thanks very much for that - so the software update from the O2 shop was a bit of a red herring.....

BTW - Not sure if anyone else has had the problem - I installed the latest updater software from the SE website on my desktop machine and can no longer access www.sonyericsson.com even off a link on the sony site. I know that it was not a site problem as I had my laptop on without the Updater software on and could get to the SE site.

I then installed the Updater software on the laptop (from the SE site) and guess what can no longer get to it.........

Is this a bug in the Updater software ??????

Its not just you. I also had the same problem. I was in usa on the last day of my holiday when it happened. I called o2 and got a replacement. The problem is the keys at the bottom of the keyboard. No7 and * if you press round there with some force then it becomes the center soft key. I belivie that the keypad circuit board is the cause of the problem. Im hoping that my new replacement doesnt show the same problems. Altho i have had it for over 6 weeks now. Ok it is my 5th phone since its being released.

Yesterday Happened to me! first the middle touch key, goes kind of crazy, and later it stop workin at all, all the 3 touch keys. Thanks SE

Sounds like either sonyericsson was down, or for whatever reason they blocked your IP which is really unlikely. Just reboot your PC and modem.

My K850 has been fine on the touch button front, though occasionally slightly unresponsive on the centre one. I find for some reason it works best if I touch it lightly..

i also use SN, but i never downloaded anything from internet.Since it can not work at all with poor buttons on key board.

Hi All

Thanks for the comments about the screen - took into the O2 store Monday of last week (11th feb) and they sent it off......picked it back up today - they couldn't repair it so have a new phone........
