2007 has been over now for well over a month, and with the dust settling from the shake up that was the year 2007 I was just wondering what everyone's cellphone buying experiences were like in 2007?... Still with SE? Was 2007 the year that you made the switch from a SE to a Nokia, Samsung, or a LG model? What is the cellphone model that you bought this year that you couldn't live with out, and why? Tell me your nomination for phone of the year 2007 (it's not official or anything btw, just done out of morbid curiosity is all...), and please try to keep keep it civil, respectful, fact based, and not turn this thread into a flame war.....
Ok, with the niceties done, I nominate Nokia's N95 8GB as my choice for phone of the year for the year 2007! 2007 was the year I made the switch from SE to Nokia, and I haven't once regretted it! This phone is a beast that handles everything that I throw at it! To paraphrase what Nokia's been saying about it, the "N95 8GB really is what PC's have become"! I can now leave the house without my PowerBook and feel comfortable with just my N95 8GB in my pocket! It handles web pages wonderfully with full flash support (though not as intuitively or beautifully as the iPhone's Safari web browser...) with both Wi-Fi and Edge (What?... It's important to me here in the states, since I'm on a T-Mobile plan!) and has even replaced my standalone MP3 player! I cut the iPod umbilical cord roughly a year ago btw, and haven't looked back since! I love gaming on the huge crystal clear 2.8 inch screen (N-Gage 2.0 is just around the corner from a world wide release btw! HUZAH!). Now that I have a Sling Player I can't keep my hands off of it watching and controlling my DVR from the road on the go! Did I mention that it takes great 5MP photos and VGA videos at 30 fps?... This phone kicks major ass and draws seriously jealous looks from all of my iPhone totting friends! The best part about that btw? I didn't have to fork out $600 for a new phone and then get stuck in a 2 year plan with AT&T, nor did I have to break my phone by unlocking it to get full functionality and potential out of it! All of this in a form factor the size of my old SE W850i, that happens to easily fit into my pocket! Is there room for improvement and innovation with the N95 8GB? Sure (can we say slide out keyboard, touch screen support, lens cover, and zenon flash?) but as it stands this phone is my choice for phone of the year 2007 and a phone I don't think I could live without...
