> P1i Buying Decision, Please help
Bookmark topic
Hello guys, Finally I've decided to sell off my beloved P990i and buy a P1i for RAM issues. To be honest I would be happy the most if I could by a HTC Tytn II but unfortunately I don't have that much cash with me ATM.
So far with P1i's reviews and screenshot it seems ok, the things i'm concered about are the screen size as well as the keyboard. So i need opinion from users who have migrated from P990i to P1i.
1.Is the sreen size sufficient enough to please the eyes (GPS, Video, Browsing etc.) or it feels tinier?
2.Is the keyboard comfortable as the P990i's?
Advanced thanks for your replies.

Get the P1, it is much, much better than P990. First day or two I was aware of smaller screen and half qwerty but after that I completely get used to it and must say that I was never happier with a phone. I am still astonished by its small size (compare to the huge P900,P910,P990 I had before) and multitasking capacity and enjoy it like anything.

@michi123
May be u haven't seen where i'm from, or don't know the submarince-cable disaster @ near egypt (i can't even read the news!).
It's very easy to tell to search (which I've always had) but it's not easy to wait for about ~3 minutes to load even a single page of esato (yes after being disconnected from submarine cable, it's THAT slow), let alone searching. sorry if i've bothered you in any way.
@ everybody else thank you so much. I think I can now buy a P1i with a calm mind

Go for it buddy.Im a happy P990 user and just imagining all that extra RAM that the P1i has to offer I wouldnt even think twice about purchasing it.Take a look at
www.p1iblog.com and see what that baby has to offer. It looks like a good buy especially if you were fond of your P990.

Hi, Hope I would be able to help on your buying decision.
1.Is the sreen size sufficient enough to please the eyes (GPS, Video, Browsing etc.) or it feels tinier?
The screen size is very acceptable for normal use (calling, messaging, phone management etc). In terms of video, it is somewhat fine, this really depend if u've been used to watching video in larger screens (I used to watch movie using my iriver Clix, so P1i is not much difference). Browing is not affected since the zoom in/out from Opera gives you pretty much the whole page control and P1i screen size is very sufficient.
Note that - I strongly feel that if you used on watching P990 - P1i would only be a very slight if not no drawback at all. I would say you will feel differences if you watch video on COWON media player or iPod Touch.
2.Is the keyboard comfortable as the P990i's?
I never play around with P990i - but I can tell you that P1i keyboard in my view is a very intelligent design to save space (adopted from M series) and is comfortable.
I'm very surprised to found my critic review notably CNET and GSM Arena that mention how P1i keyboard is awkward and taking alot of time to getting used to. I can type at P1i keyboard at a massively faster rate than I would imagined by looking at the picture rate.
The positioning and the tactile response of the key is perfect although ... as you would have imagined with any keyboard - you would make mistake every once in awhile.
Please do not hesitate to ask question if you need any clarficiation
P1i is a highly recommended buy

I have the P990, the P1 and the TyTN II (among many other phones), and I find my P1 an absolute delight to use compare to the TyTN. The latter is heavy as hell, and Windows Mobile is painfully slow on this device. Also, the keyboard is very annoying, as you have to keep flipping the phone. The GPS is excellent however, and the camera about the same as the P1.
The last P990 firmware was actually quite OK. If it weren't for the painfully tiny memory it would be a quite nice, but big, phone.
